These terms govern your use of carsforcopsandkids.org and any related subdomains (the “Site”).

A1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

A2. Intellectual Property

All content on this Site — including text, graphics, photographs, logos, and code — is owned by or licensed to the organizing committee of Cars for Cops & Kids, the Rotary Club of Glendale, or contributing parties, and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any Site content without prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use (e.g., sharing a link or printing a page for personal reference).

A3. No Official City Affiliation

This Site and the Cars for Cops & Kids event are not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the City of Glendale, California. Event details are subject to change; always verify with official communications. In the event of a discrepancy between this Site and an official email or notice from the organizing committee, the official communication controls.

Part B — Event Participation Waiver & Release

This Waiver applies to all vehicle registrants, vendors, volunteers, and any individual who accesses the show field or participates in the event in any capacity beyond that of a general spectator in a public park. Spectators attending in the public park areas are not required to sign this waiver but should be aware that the event occurs in a public outdoor space.

Important: By completing registration, a vendor or volunteer application, or by accessing the show field, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this Waiver. If you do not agree, do not participate. This is placeholder language — a finalized, legally reviewed waiver must be executed before the event.

B1. Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that the Cars for Cops & Kids Car Show (“Event”) involves the display, movement, and operation of motor vehicles — including classic, exotic, and specialty vehicles — in a public park setting. I understand and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in or attending the Event, including but not limited to:

  • Exposure to operating motor vehicles and associated noise, fumes, and fluids.
  • Uneven terrain, outdoor weather conditions (sun, heat, wind, dust), and slippery surfaces.
  • Interaction with members of the public, animals, and law enforcement or first-responder vehicles on display.
  • Risks inherent to outdoor, public events including, without limitation, accidents, falls, or crowd-related incidents.
  • With respect to vehicle registrants specifically: damage to or theft from my vehicle while on the show field, parking area, or in transit to or from the Event, whether caused by another vehicle, the environment, or any third party.

B2. Liability Release & Waiver of Claims

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, I — on behalf of myself, my heirs, assigns, and legal representatives — hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the following parties (collectively, “Released Parties”):

  • The Rotary Club of Glendale and its officers, directors, members, and volunteers;
  • The Dad's Club of Verdugo Woodlands and its officers, members, and volunteers;
  • The Cars for Cops & Kids organizing committee and all individual organizers;
  • The City of Glendale (as the owner of Verdugo Park, where applicable);
  • Event sponsors, vendors, and contractors acting on behalf of the Event;

from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Event — including claims based on negligence — to the fullest extent permitted by California law.

B3. Photography & Likeness Consent

I grant the Released Parties and their authorized representatives permission to photograph, film, and record me and my vehicle at the Event, and to use such images, video, and recordings for promotional, educational, and archival purposes — including on this website, social media, print materials, and press releases — without further notice, consent, or compensation.

B4. Vehicle Responsibility

I represent that my vehicle is legally registered, insured in accordance with California law, and in roadworthy condition. I am solely responsible for the safe operation and movement of my vehicle on Event grounds, including during load-in, positioning, and load-out. I will follow all volunteer and staff directions regarding vehicle movement.

I understand that the Released Parties accept no responsibility for damage to, theft of, or loss of my vehicle or any items left in or around my vehicle during the Event.

B5. Code of Conduct

I agree to conduct myself in a safe, respectful, and lawful manner at all times during the Event. This includes:

  • No unsafe vehicle operation (burnouts, excessive revving, reckless movement) anywhere on Event grounds.
  • No harassment, threatening behavior, or conduct that disrupts the peaceful enjoyment of the Event by others.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and with reasonable directions from Event organizers and law enforcement.
  • Responsible consumption of alcohol only in designated areas; no intoxicated vehicle operation.

The organizing committee reserves the right to remove any participant or spectator who violates this Code of Conduct, without refund.

B6. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from my participation in the Event, my vehicle, or any breach of this Waiver by me or anyone acting under my supervision.

B7. Severability

If any provision of this Waiver is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

B8. Governing Law

This Waiver is governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute arising under this Waiver shall be resolved in Los Angeles County, California.

Legal counsel review required. This Waiver & Release is a template and has not been reviewed or approved by an attorney. It is provided solely as a starting point and should not be relied upon as a final legal document. Before use, it must be reviewed by a licensed California attorney experienced in event liability and waiver law to ensure it is appropriate, enforceable, and compliant with current law. Questions?
